jolene print

is done, kind of. i have 24 pieces of paper, and have printed on 6 of them. eff. it looks pretty good so far, i guess. i like it, but it is a print of my baby. it is a two plate print, one red and one blue. the assignment was we had to print on quarter sheets, so 11x15. i think the copper is 4x6 or something. i honestly cannot remember, i am exhausted. anyway, this picture sucks because i took it with my cell phone. but here is jolene!

close close close call

tonight trevor called me to let me know that there were three raccoons in the coop, because the effing door was open, and that the chickens were all really freaking out. jordan had called him saying the chickens were all flying around the yard yelling really loud, and we needed to make sure they were ok. i borrowed the pathfinder and drove down to his studio so fast, and we pulled into the alley and turned the car towards the coop. sirius and esther were walking around the yard. i picked up esther and took her into the bathroom. jordan said he didn't know where jolene was. my heart dropped, i was so freaked out but i didn't want to think the worst had happened. we looked around the yard a little bit, and then trevor found her in the coop. she didn't look good, she was barely moving. i started crying and told him i couldn't look at her, that he had to do it. so he put his hand in and scooped her out of the nesting box. she slowly started moving and walking around. i took her inside too, and then sirius came in. i fed them some cheese and some bread to make them feel better, and maybe calm them down a little bit. i just sat on the floor and talked to them and told them they were all ok now. they ate all the cheese then squished together in the corner. i went out to talk to jordan, and he said he was inside the house, and he heard some noise in the backyard. it was already dark, so he knew something was wrong. they never make noise at night. ever. so jordan went out with the flood light and saw all three flying around the yard making so much noise. he walked over to the coop, and saw three pairs of glowing eyes. the raccoons were making noises like some giant creature coughing up a hairball. jordan started to get nervous, because they are mean little things. and three of them all crammed in the coop together would be so scary! they ran out of the coop and got back over the fence, and he said one tried to grab sirius through the chain link. he threw a log at the fence to scare them off, and esther decided to fly up onto the fence. sirius was running around the yard, and jolene was cowering in a corner. i am so grateful that jordan was home, i don't want to think about what would have happened if he had not been there. i am so glad they are all ok, probably really stressed out and scared, but otherwise ok. i hate raccoons. i want to call animal control tomorrow and see if there is anything they can do. there are so many pets in the neighborhood, and i would hate for something to happen to any of them.

baby jolene

so school starts in one week, and i am trying to get everything ready for a brand new semester of printing. i started thinking about what i want to do for the miniprint this year, it was hard because i didn't think i could ever out do "hoot cakes". i wanted to stick to the owl theme, but then i got to thinking about jolene. she is the perfect subject, she loves to have her picture taken and she is the friendliest out of all the chickens. so i took a bunch of photos but i am not sure which one i should draw from.

what do you think?

these are my four choices:

good egg

sirius or esther laid the very first egg sometime today!!! we think it was sirius because it was in the middle nesting box, and there was a black feather in with it. brice found it today when he was checking to see if they had enough food. it is tiny and brown, and so cute! i can't wait to see if any of the ladies lay another one tonight!

babies

so the babies all have names now. from left to right we have
sirius black okubo
esther pat benatar dopp
and my little one, baby jolene littlefoot mack

of course i am most in love with jolene, she is the smallest and in my opinion, the most adorable. but the other girls (hopefully esther is a girl, we won't know for a few weeks. cross your fingers that she doesn't start to crow!) are sweet too. sirius does not like to be alone, she chirps SO loud if you leave her alone in the box. esther is kind of like the momma. jolene and sirius like to nestle under her wings. maybe it is because she is the biggest. esther is also the most calm, and she will sit on trevors shoulder and be totally happy. she is good at flying too, which is kind of scary because she might fly out of the box one day. who knows. jolene is really brave outside and likes to run away from the other girls really fast to check things out, just not for too long.
i can't wait for them to keep growing and for their personalities to develop more. and i can't wait for the fresh eggs!!!

bock chick bock chick

um, i have a chicken. a little baby chicken. her name is baby jolene littlefoot, and she currently resides in trevors kitchen. when she is bigger she will move out into the backyard and live in the chicken coop that was built last weekend.
she is so cute and small and golden. i hope she grows up to be a redhead though, so she will really fit her name. but i guess if she stays golden she will look like dolly.
