For decades, Northern Uganda has been plagued with civil wars, disease and severe poverty.

Thousands of destitute women and children are displaced without home or land.

Faced with food, shelter, school fees, and medical bills, these women are in dire straits; fighting every day simply for the survival of their families.

To help them in their fight, Empowerment Project: The Women and Children of Kaberamaido in partnership with Trivani Foundation, are matching the strength and ingenuity of mothers and widows by selling "paper bead" necklaces made by the women themselves.

Each necklace is made from magazine pages and demonstrates the creativity, vision, and fortitude the women of Kaberamaido must exercise daily to survive. By purchasing one of these necklaces, not only will you be empowering women to earn an income, but empowering choice. Through economic development, women can reclaim their agency, respect and dignity.

All proceeds of the necklaces and kissing booth will directly support the creation of micro-enterprise, more training opportunities, and microcredit loans enabling women to support themselves and their children.

All vendor spots for our May market have filled up, but don't fret! There are still three more markets scheduled for June, August, and September! If you're interested in becoming a vendor please e-mail us at saltystreetproductions@gmail.com.

jolene print

is done, kind of. i have 24 pieces of paper, and have printed on 6 of them. eff. it looks pretty good so far, i guess. i like it, but it is a print of my baby. it is a two plate print, one red and one blue. the assignment was we had to print on quarter sheets, so 11x15. i think the copper is 4x6 or something. i honestly cannot remember, i am exhausted. anyway, this picture sucks because i took it with my cell phone. but here is jolene!

baby jolene

so school starts in one week, and i am trying to get everything ready for a brand new semester of printing. i started thinking about what i want to do for the miniprint this year, it was hard because i didn't think i could ever out do "hoot cakes". i wanted to stick to the owl theme, but then i got to thinking about jolene. she is the perfect subject, she loves to have her picture taken and she is the friendliest out of all the chickens. so i took a bunch of photos but i am not sure which one i should draw from.

what do you think?

these are my four choices:
