ha!

#131 Conan O’Brien
January 13, 2010 by clander
The recent news that Conan O’Brien will be replaced by Jay Leno has caused white people to erupt with rage and hostility. You might even expect them to lash out and do something about it like take to the streets or write a letter to NBC to voice their dissatisfaction with the network. But no, white people will solve this problem the way that they solved the election crisis in Iran – through Facebook and Twitter status updates. In 2009, millions of white people took 35 seconds to turn their twitter profiles green, and consequently sent a very powerful message to the leaders of Iran. Their message was that they wanted their friends to know that they would stop at nothing to ensure freedom and democracy for the Iranian people. Thanks in large part to that effort Iran is now completely democratic. With that issue settled, white people are launching a similar campaign for Conan that is sure to have similar results.

It is not hard to understand why white people love Conan O’Brien, he embodies so many of the things they already like before he even opens his mouth: Ivy League Schools, Red Hair, the Boston Red Sox, Self Deprecating Humor, The Simpsons, and Bad Memories of High School (likely, but not confirmed). Seeing him on television five nights a week is a comforting reminder of community to the white people who still have televisions.

But if your plan is to try to use Conan O’Brien as a way to get white people to become more interested you, then it is imperative that you understand a few key rules. Firstly, all white people love “the masturbating bear,” if you don’t know what this is, do not worry. Just state your love for the character, and the white person you are talking to will simply fill in the rest. Secondly, all white people believe that Andy Richter never should have left the show. And finally, you should do your best to develop a “Triumph the Insult Comic Dog” impression. All white people already have one, so you might as well try to fit in. Complete these steps and watch your friendship with white people become considerably smoother.

Now, the biggest and most important thing to remember is to never, under any circumstances bring up a Conan O’Brien sketch or joke that has taken place in the last three years. You will be met with only blank stares. For you see, while white people will fiercely support Conan O’Brien in any public forum, they always fail to support him in the only way that actually helps – by watching his show.

Note: Under no circumstances should you ever mention that you prefer Jay Leno. This might cause white people to think you have the same taste in humor as the wrong kind of white people, or worse, their parents.

Stuff White People Like supports Conan O’Brien.

i have a kitty!

this is my baby. her name is ronnie the bear, after ron weasly in brad neely's version : wizard people, dear reader. which, if you haven't heard or seen yet, you are missing out.
i have been looking for a kitten for a while now. and she is perfect. it was love at first sight. she is so sweet and snuggly and playful. all in one.
the humane society says she is around 2 months old, but i think she is closer to 3. maybe 2.5 ish.
she likes to give little kitten kisses, and look at herself in the mirror. she is not very good at jumping on the bed yet, but i am sure she will have it down in no time. and she plays with her tail. presh.
but she has been farting a lot. ha ha that better stop as it is neither ladylike or pleasant to be around. right now she is exploring my apartment and playing with everything in sight. i love her.

i tried to find a video to upload, but they all seem to have been disabled. anyway, click the link.

pouty time.

here is my pouty list for today:
i didn't get my kitten
it is freezing in my apartment
there is no door to my back room, making the apartment much colder
i left my window insulation stuff at trevors studio
i cannot have a kitten until the 5th
my tv converter box did not come with one of the chords i need
the antenna is in the other room, so the converter box won't even work unless i move the tv

so i am just going to sit at the computer and eat oreos with peanut butter instead.

honk-shoooo

i am just writing this because i have not posted anything new for over a week. my life right now is full of school related activities. i have been working on print things like crazy. this semester i am working on three chicken shaped intaglio plates. they are a pain in the ass to cut out and file, but i think they will be really cool when they are all done. i need to work on my drawings more for sam. he let me borrow his plastic turkey named leroy. i need to get some drawings of him soon! also bookbinding is taking up SO much time, it is crazy. this week we are making boxes. i hope i don't eff it up like i did my first book.
today i had to present to a lot of people in the fine arts department for funding to go to the international southern graphics council conference. whew! i had to write up a proposal and figure out a budget and everything. i felt so grown up doing it. today we just had to go in and see if the board had any questions. a friend told me we did get funding, but not as much as last year. that is pretty disappointing seeing as there are the same number of students attending as there were last time. but it wasn't my fault, there were 19 different groups requesting money this year, and i am sure the budget isn't as big as it has been in the past. oh well, at least we got something!
i have been house sitting for my friend erin and watching a million dvds. she and jake have a gigantic dvd collection. they are in disneyland for their anniversary. i hope they are having the best time ever, and that they bought mickey ears. i better get a postcard too.
this month at the gallery stroll i will have a print at signed and numbered. i was able to get into the print exchange for this month. it is a halloween theme, and my print is jolene, of course. but she has three heads and is drooling. if you are in town you should go check it out! this will be my first time showing anything at gallery stroll.
AND! i am moving out of my mommas house soon. i am looking at two apartments tomorrow, and making my decision tomorrow too. i am really excited to move out without a roommate. trevor of course will be my part time roomie. and maybe sometime in the near future i will have a kitty too, but we will just have to see.
