close close close call

tonight trevor called me to let me know that there were three raccoons in the coop, because the effing door was open, and that the chickens were all really freaking out. jordan had called him saying the chickens were all flying around the yard yelling really loud, and we needed to make sure they were ok. i borrowed the pathfinder and drove down to his studio so fast, and we pulled into the alley and turned the car towards the coop. sirius and esther were walking around the yard. i picked up esther and took her into the bathroom. jordan said he didn't know where jolene was. my heart dropped, i was so freaked out but i didn't want to think the worst had happened. we looked around the yard a little bit, and then trevor found her in the coop. she didn't look good, she was barely moving. i started crying and told him i couldn't look at her, that he had to do it. so he put his hand in and scooped her out of the nesting box. she slowly started moving and walking around. i took her inside too, and then sirius came in. i fed them some cheese and some bread to make them feel better, and maybe calm them down a little bit. i just sat on the floor and talked to them and told them they were all ok now. they ate all the cheese then squished together in the corner. i went out to talk to jordan, and he said he was inside the house, and he heard some noise in the backyard. it was already dark, so he knew something was wrong. they never make noise at night. ever. so jordan went out with the flood light and saw all three flying around the yard making so much noise. he walked over to the coop, and saw three pairs of glowing eyes. the raccoons were making noises like some giant creature coughing up a hairball. jordan started to get nervous, because they are mean little things. and three of them all crammed in the coop together would be so scary! they ran out of the coop and got back over the fence, and he said one tried to grab sirius through the chain link. he threw a log at the fence to scare them off, and esther decided to fly up onto the fence. sirius was running around the yard, and jolene was cowering in a corner. i am so grateful that jordan was home, i don't want to think about what would have happened if he had not been there. i am so glad they are all ok, probably really stressed out and scared, but otherwise ok. i hate raccoons. i want to call animal control tomorrow and see if there is anything they can do. there are so many pets in the neighborhood, and i would hate for something to happen to any of them.

Those stupid raccoons! I am so sorry for that scare. We have a dog and if anything happened to her, I would be devastated. She's our little daughter! That's cool you have chickens! I love it. Give the chickens a little hug and kiss from auntie Randi.
